It's 9:30pm and I'm sitting in bed listening to my sweet 7 week old daughter snore softly (and pass gas loudly) in her sleep next to me and I can't help but think about how lucky I am to have such a beautiful little one who brings me so much happiness. We have learned and grown so much together in this crazy new life we're living and finally we are close to having daily routines and I'm also getting pretty good at interpreting cries. if only I could figure out what will make her give a big gummy smile and a giggle. Oh I long to hear her sweet laugh!!! We are currently still wearing newborn onesies, pants, and diapers!!! We are wearing mostly 0-3m sleepers, because she is a whopping 21 1/2 inches long. She weighs 8.9 lbs. She'll sleep 4-6 hours at a time and then eat and go back to sleep easily (unless those darn hiccups grace us with their presence). Her hair seems to have very light touches of red in it. We may have a strawberry blonde on our hands!!! She still hates tummy time most of the time but she loves her activity gym and her taggie puppy. She loves being carried in her moby wrap but isn't too sure about this ergo. When I lay her down at night after her last feeding of the day she'll always either fall asleep right away or she'll lay awake for a few minutes and let me lay down and go to bed. She feels that mornings are for sleeping and eating, afternoons are for playing and snuggling, and night is for being wide awake until about 9:30 - 10ish... sometimes a little later. She cries anytime that she has anything at all in her diaper. She'll stop crying when I pick her up and take her upstairs to change her diaper, and then she'll start crying again the second I lay her down on the changing table. Most of her cries now are more like complaints and rarely will I see a tear anymore.
*I took these pictures when she was about 5 1/2 - 6 wks old

Things You find in a new mommy's pocket...
I have now been a "new mommy" for two weeks today! It's been the most amazing and tiring experience of my life. There is absolutely nothing I could have done to prepare myself for any of it especially how much love I would come to have for this little ball of baby. She is really something amazing. Truly I'd do anything and everything for her. Unfortunately, most days I'm lucky to get a shower much less make it out of my bathrobe which has become part of my daily ensomble which also includes yoga pants and nursing tank tops. I especially love my bathrobe because of the huge pockets it has. I can put pretty much everything I need in them so that I always have it close by.
Nipple cream - very useful stuff. The hospital gave me 3 sample tubes so I always have some on me. My nurse even taught me that it makes the most amazing chap stick... and it DOES! It also works well as lotion. My hands and knuckles were so chapped it looked like I had punched a wall. Lanolin felt like some sort of magic cream on them
Nasal Aspirator- Paranoid new mommy sucked up lots of vomit with this and a few buggers
Baby monitor - between the garage and going up and down stairs this has become an absolute must
Cell phone - Never know when I'm going to want to take a picture (which is about all the time) and I definitely don't want to have to hunt down my phone when it rings
Breast pump - The electronic end of my Medela Freestyle quite often finds itself in a pocket
Burp cloth- I constantly had a cloth diaper burp cloth hanging out of a pocket or 2. Once I even found one hanging out of both pockets and I had one on my shoulder. Not exactly sure how that happened... I was pretty sleep deprived.
I'm sure that many other things wound up in my pockets during my little one's first couple of weeks with us but that time frame is such a blur now. I was running on basically no sleep and very little to eat and drink (because who has time to remember to do that). I SHOULD have carried a bottle of water around in my pockets too!
