Month 4 in a very big nutshell
Wow those first 4 months went by so fast. I can't believe we're already working on month 5!
Pearl weighs 11.1 lbs so she's still very very tiny. We're working on that diligently now because she's down to being in the 4th percentile. At this time she has to be 12.5 by April 8. She's 62 cm long.
Lots going on in this fourth month. There was mardi gras, mommy's birthday, St. Patrick's day, grandpa Twork's birthday, Daddy's birthday, Brentley's birthday, and then great Grandma Joyce's birthday.
Pearl is growing and developing so much. It's so unreal to watch this tiny little ball of baby begin to grow into a tiny little child. I can feel her infancy slipping away more and more each day and I already miss it, however I am enjoying this new stage as well. Everything is new for her and she's really seeing things for the first time. She smiles so much and her little smile is so beautiful that I just want to see it all the time.
She's beginning to reach for her toys. She has these colorful stackable stars that play music and light up when you stack them. The top green star was the first thing that she took ahold of on her own when I put it in front of her. Anything I put in her hands goes right into her mouth including the frog attached to her tummy time mat. Tummy time is a lot more fun now for both of us now. She also has a new favorite show, The Wubbulous World of Dr. Seuss. She loves puppets... I should really get some for our play time. Perhaps the Easter Bunny will bring her a couple this year.
This month also included Pearl's first big trip (Ok maybe not too big) to comicon in Sacramento. She slept through the whole thing, but she was adorably dressed as Spider girl. A friend, Rebecca, turned a red onesie into a spider onesie with felt and loaned us a red petticoat. I got her some Navy leggings and out a Navy striped long sleeved onesie underneath. It was adorable!
This month also, unfortunately included Pearl's first death in the family. Our cousin Holly's super sweet sister Heather passed away. It was both unexpected and tragic. She is already greatly missed.
This month has also included Pearl's first solid food. We introduced baby Oatmeal to her diet. The first night I mixed it with water and she ate a little bit was ultimately unimpressed. The second night I mixed it with formula and she ate the entire tbsp. I couldn't believe it. It was funny to watch her eat it since she basically sucked it up of the spoon (like soup) instead of the spoon actually going into her mouth. I sat in the kitchen floor and she sat in her swing. It was fun. She's now up to eating 2 tbsp a night.
She is also a full time crib sleeper now. Some nights are long but most nights she sleeps through the night. She hasn't slept in our room since February 27th. I still miss her not being in there with me but it sure is nice to sleep in the dark with my glasses off. I owe it all to the book "the happiest baby on the black". It was a LIFESAVER even when I was only half way through it. She seems much happier now too. Smiling all the time, even when she wakes up in the morning. I guess everyone benefits from a good night's sleep... Not just mommy.

Pearl is also turning into quite the talker! She has lots to say and loves to be heard! She smiles lots, laughs lots, and talks lots which is making for a pretty adorable personality!
