Our Most Recent Visitor

So today around about 10am I decided I needed to call about switching over our car insurance to USAA.  I knew they'd need my VIN number so I went outside to get it while I was on the phone with them.  Just as I stepped out of the side door I looked to my right and noticed this little guy.  At first I couldn't tell what it was... Is it a lizard?  Is it 2 lizards cuddled together?  Nope... it's a snake!!!  So I run into the house and grab Michael since he's off today.  He goes outside and investigates, comes back in the house and gets on the compute and determines that it's a RATTLESNAKE!!!!  He wanted to shoot it with the blow gun, but I was afraid that it wouldn't kill it... it'd just injure it and then it'd come back for revenge.  He assured me he'd shoot it in the head (he is a sharp shooter after all), but I decided we should call housing maintenance.  They came and got rid of him for us, but I couldn't resist snapping a couple pictures of him.  Of course now I'm completely freaked out and Housing Maintenance is coming over this afternoon to fix our weather stripping around our front door.

Solar Eclipse 2012

At first I was a little bummed that I didn't have any way to view the solar eclipse that just happened a few minutes ago... then at 5:34 I thought to myself... "Duh!!!  Camera!!!"  So it was a little tough taking a picture of something I can't look at and that quite frankly it hurt just to try and snag these pictures even with the camera blocking the sun.  Here's the best I could do!!!

Fun in the Sun in Our Backyard

Michael works 14 hour shifts and generally he always has the car with him because he leaves the house at 3:45 every morning.  I generally get up long enough to help him find something or make him breakfast and then go back to sleep.  On these days I do a variety of different things including, cleaning, organizing, catching up on my favorite shows, laying in the sun, spending time with new friends, etc.  Today is the first Sunday that he's had to work since we've been here and he'll pretty much be working every other weekend.  So today I overslept and kinda putzed around a bit and then decided to try out my new tanning lotion and lay in the sun for a little while.  I turned on my new sprinkler in the yard and cranked up the music.  After a while I opened my eyes and looked around and realized that the birds were really enjoying the sprinkler!  They were flying through it, standing under it with their beaks open, and playing in it!!! So I ran into the house and grabbed my camera

I couldn't help myself... I had to join in

8 year anniversary celebrated in Heavenly Daze Record Store

Today Michael and I decided to check out a record store in Yuba City that my friend Apples steered me to.  I had texted apples a picture of my cardboard Janis Joplin poster and asked her if she knew of anywhere I could get more posters like it.  I needed 3 to complete my music wall above my record player.  I was absolutely NOT prepared for the awesomeness that I was about to walk into!!!  Michael and I went a little crazy in this store and decided that our purchases would be our anniversary gifts to each other.  BTW today marks the 8th year that we've been together!!!  We had so much together in this record store and came out with some really amazing items!!!  Also, this store gives a military discount!!!  Gotta love that!!!

I took this picture from the store owner's facebook page because I didn't think to take one of the sign.

They have soooo many records here!!!!... and this wasn't even all of them!!!

She was so much fun to chat with while we basically took over her store for a couple of hours!  She dips her own incense and does her own tie-dye!!!

The Janis poster in the bottom right hand corner is the one that I got when I was in high school... the rest I purchased today but she said she gets that one in every now and then too.

Some of the amazing finds from today... and yes... your eyes are NOT deceiving you!!!  That is an original print of the Rolling stones "Sticky Fingers" album cover with fully functioning zipper designed by Andy Warhol and in pristine condition!!!

And yes... that is the Jimi Hendrix Experience box set you see there in the middle!

The forever 27 poster on the wall, we got it years ago... today we found the one below it and got it to go above... now I need a frame

We also got some vintage promo posters, but they were rolled up and I didn't feel like rigging up a way to lay them flat to take a pic.  We got Pink Floyd, Sublime, The Doors, and Korn.

Seriously there is some super amazing things in this store and I urge everyone in the area to go there... but make sure you leave a copy of the Jimi Hendrix Christmas album for me... I'm buying that the next time I go there!!!  ;)

Peace and Love my Loves

Beale House Part 2

Today I got down to business and got a few more rooms of my house cleaned and done to snap some pictures!!!  Of course after I snapped these pictures this morning, my friend Stephanie came over and helped me hang most of our artwork... so I'll be posting more pictures in the near future with stuff on the walls.... but for the most part this is how our house looking as of right now.  I still haven't done 2 rooms... the guest room and the office/crafting room (which so far a lot more crafting has been going on than officing :) ), also there is the master bathroom that I'll snap a picture of later.

This is the shelf that Mom and Dad got for Michael for his birthday.  We filled it with things that belonged to his Aunt Teruko and his Nana along with some of our wedding gifts and then I put our cookbooks on the bottom to make it bottom heavy to decrease the likelihood that it may topple over.

Our 1970's chinet cabinet is filled with barware on the top and then in the bottom is where I have all of my corningware.  Off to the sides are items that haven't found a home in the house yet but I'm working on it.

This is our kitchen.  I've never hung actual curtains before and these curtains belonged to Michael's nana... whom I am sure was laughing at me the whole time that I was putting them up.

This is the foyer... our front door is to the right in the top picture and behind me in the bottom picture.  I'm going to move that picture over because it's bothering me.  In the top picture I'm standing in the kitchen  in the little nook where the shelves and the chinet cabinet are.

Here are some different views of the living room... I'll have to turn the lamps on when I take pictures next time.

Got the kitty bed all set up

These are the curtains I made today for in the bedroom.  I took one of my favorite tapestries and cut it in half... obviously... but I made sure to do it in such a way that I can alter them when we move.  For instance... next time we move if the curtains are longer and shorter I can take out the top seam and turn it to where the half circles will create a full circle again.  This window is just so wide that it worked best to sew them sideways.  I kinda like it though.  This tapestry has elephants and peacocks on it and I got it years ago at bonnaroo.  There is a store in Marysville here that has a purple elephant tapestry that I'm thinking about getting to make a valance for the top.
