Our babies

From the moment that we got our new house, we felt that there was something missing.  While my husband and I love each others company... we also love to share our time with four legged family members.  We really wanted to bring our Axis with us but, we left him back in Tennessee due to him wanting to be an outside cat... and well most of you know the story of his new found "attitude" being the new alpha cat since "Cat" died.  So we left him where he'd be happies... at Mom and Dad's house.

So, since we got here we have nothing to love on except for each other and we decided we wanted to share that love with some fur babies.  We talked about getting kittens and decided that if we were going to get another pet that we needed to get 2 so that they have someone to play with and love on and snuggle with while we are/aren't there.  We looked around a little but decided not to get anything until our house was put together.

Then, I met Stephanie who introduced me to Misty and Kara on a lunch outing.  Misty is another AF spouse and over lunch had told us that she is going to be fostering kittens and that she was going to be picking them up that night and that she would have to find homes for them.  I jumped on that right away and let her know I'd want 2 of them! :)  She sent me pictures of them and they looked just so sweet.  She let me know that they were found on a boat with no mother and were taken to the shelter.  Since they had come with no mother and were under 2 pounds they were scheduled to be euthanized by 7 pm that night if no one took them.  So she rescued them and is still currently taking care of them, but she lets me visit.  The kitten's sad story made me want them even more.  Poor babies.  :(   They are truly a rescue.

There are 3 kittens in the litter, and while I would love to take all 3 of them, the AF says we can only have 2.  So we are taking the girl and one boy.  The girl is white with black spots and beige on her nose and her name is Luna.  The boy is all black and his name will be Kyler.  We all know black cats have a special place in my heart since "Cat" was the best cat I ever had and he was black.

The pictures are of 2 visits.  The first visit I went with Stephanie while Michael was at work and the second visit, Michael finally got to meet his babies.  Today they are officially our babies as our application has been approved by the shelter.  Michael played with both of the boys quite a bit and then decided which one he wanted and we put a little black collar on him that has stars and moons on it.  Both of the boys look exactly alike so this was really the only way to keep them straight.  It was so funny when I put the collar on Kyler.  It was like it threw his balance off and he got kinda wobbly... then after a couple minutes he got used to it.  I never got Luna's on her but I left it there in case Misty wanted to put it on her.

So there's the story of our babies... kinda fitting that we get approved on Mother's Day!!!  :)
