This morning when I was walking back into the house from taking a couple of pizza boxes to the recycling bin (maybe 6 steps from my front door) I noticed a little snake head poking out from behind our small red cooler watching me. After I screamed and ran back into the house I called maintenance to come and get it and then grabbed my camera and ran back outside... I've decided I want pictures of all of our little critter visitors. I couldn't find him... so I waited inside by the front door and waited about 2 minutes for maintenance to come. I watched the man look around the area and move the cooler around and then out ran the little snake. I realized this snake was not harmful when the man reached down and picked him up with his bare hands and held onto him for a little while as if they were buds. So I went outside and asked to take a picture. This was just a little garden snake and they were actually pretty happy to see him. So I named him Sam and told them they could just let him go in the backyard. Our maintenance guys are pretty great!!!
OK, so he's cute, as snakes go. At least he's little. I uncovered a salamander nest with eggs this morning. At first, I was afraid it was a snake, but no. She was guarding her nest though, or at least laying with the eggs. I didn't know reptiles did that.
ReplyDeleteOh cool!!! You should have taken a quick picture for me!!! I didn't really know that they did that either. Sounds pretty cute! :)
