The Cute little Town not far from Beale... Marysville
So surrounding Beale AFB... is a whole lot of nothing... however, once you get past the 15 minutes or so of nothingness and past the small "bad" town of Linda there is a very cute and quaint little town called "Marysville". The is quite old, and is filled with mostly local stores and eateries. It also has a Very cute "Lake Park"... more like a big pond park.... at the entrance of the town. We stopped at the park and took some pictures of the crazy ducks. Some of the ducks are just beyond fat... some we had never seen before, and others were "getting busy" in the street!!! lol This park was definitely an amusing stop along our way. Very cute town though... it has a cigar store, an actual local book store, a music shop, an eclectic shop called "Apples - Personally Yours". I did go into this store and the owner Ruth or "Apples" was very inviting. After just a few minutes we were talking like old friends and she even welcomed me to the town with a hug and told me about all of the festivals that they hold and the local bands and such. I bought the cutest Om purse from her and can't wait to get a few other things from her store. She is also a fantastic artist. She has artwork hanging for sale all over her store that she did most of. Definitely the most friendly person I've met so far. There is also the Bok Kai Temple at the edge of the town that was built in the 1850's for the Chinese Water God, Bok Eye, and it's said that it's the reason the town and the surrounding areas weren't affected by the floods in 1997. It wards off evil and protects the community of Marysville and it's inhabitants. So, all in all, it's a very nice little town to be near to.
