Our 6 day Drive across the Country .... Day 1

Our first PCS with the US Air Force.... Beale AFB near Sacramento, California.  33 1/2 hour drive from Ashland City.  Driving across the country is not something I ever thought that I'd actually get to do.  It was amazing!  We saw horizons, mountains, rocks, crazy trees, cute animals, and lots and lots of wide open spaces.... and a few times we even felt like if we were to run out of gas, get a flat tire, get pulled over, etc.... we may have found ourselves in the middle of a horror story.  So we kept tank at least halfway all the time and took lots and lots of pictures!!!

Crossing the Tennessee River!!!

We passed a very large Windmill Field in Illinois.  It went on for miles and miles and miles!!!

Then we passed a lot of nothing!!!

And even more of nothing!!!... pretty clouds though

Crossing the Bridge into Illinois

Passing through Saint Louis

Passing Through Kansas City

Our first hotel stay... Capitol Plaza Hotel in Topeka

Night number 1... We were going to stay in Kansas City but decided to drive an extra 100 miles on to Topeka to take a little time of our drive for day 2... and we sure were happy that we did.  We found a very nice hotel for a very good rate called the Capitol Plaza Hotel in Topeka, KS.  I'm super scared of bed bugs so places like "Super 8" and "Motel 6" were out of the question for the entirety of the trip.  Not even a mile from the hotel we found the city brewery called "Blind Tiger Brewery"... They had so many brews on tap that were their own that we ordered 4 beer flights of 4 beers each and tried them all.  They have amazing beer.  It's all velvety smooth and very flavorful!!!  The food was pretty good too.  I thought I had gotten a picture of it but I can't find it... so maybe I didn't.  They had a beer called "Java" that literally tasted like they brewed some amazing coffee and carbonated it.  I liked it so much that we asked what kind of coffee they used.  They used a local coffee bean roasted by PT Coffee and brought us out a cup of it.  It was so good I was able to drink it black... adding any cream or sugar would have ruined it.  Then they let us know where we could go to buy our own bags!!!

The next morning as we were leaving our hotel to go to Black Bird Cafe to get our coffee we passed a group of protesters that we soon realized was the Westboro Baptist Idiots... not really sure what they were protesting... but we think it was gay people due to I saw a couple of signs with horrible words on them.  Really made me wish that I had a girl with me to make out with right in front of them.    I tried to take a picture, but it didn't work out.... and I don't particularly want a picture of those assholes anyways.  So then It was on to Black Bird Cafe and where we picked up 2 bags... $20 per bag but it's sooooo good and probably the only time I'll ever have it so we're going to make it count!  They also made amazing breakfast items and other sweets that looked too good.
