Our 6 day Drive across the Country .... Day 4 Part 2... 1/2 of Utah and the first 4 miles of Nevada

There were a lot of areas where people would write in the salt flats with rocks and bottles and I guess just whatever they had on them

Driving though the salt flats of Utah was sooooooo cool!!!  You could definitely tell that people like to party out there.  There were all kinds of areas where people had taken rocks and beer bottles and spelled different things into the salt, or made different "works of art" with them.  Michael was going to fast for me to get a great picture though. But still it was quite amazing driving 200 miles straight through them.  These I don't believe were the great salt flats... they may not have actually been salt flats but I can't think of anything else to call it.... or what it is actually called.  As soon as we made it  to Nevada it stopped.  We stayed at like exit 4 or 10 or something at Rainbow Hotel and Casino.  The room was super cute!!!  We discovered that casino hotel rooms are pretty cheap because they want you to spend your money downstairs!!!  lol  We started out on the slot machines and didn't do well at all.  So we decided to get some dinner at the buffet.  Then we moved on to Black Jack.  We started with $20 and turned that into $48.  Neither of us had ever been to a casino and it definitely showed that we didn't know what we were doing, but the dealers were very nice and let us know all of the rules and hand motions and such.  We took our winnings upstairs and then came back down with another $20.  We sat down at a table with a man named Mike who really showed us how to play.  We still never really got a good hang of it but still did pretty decent.  He mostly told me the right things to do to win.... and then when he caused me to loose a few times in a row he bought me a hand.  Was a very nice guy.  We stayed in the casino until around midnight and then decided to go to bed so that we could hopefully get a decent start for our long drive to Reno in the morning.

*** Disclaimer... these pictures are  rediculously out of order

  1. Great, great post! It’s something I have never thought about, really, but it makes a whole lot of sense. Thanks for sharing
